Hailing from the United States, Benjamin Swails ardently pursues his passion for paddling throughout the world. His love of the water started as a child whilst canoeing with his father in Minnesota and he quickly developed a foundation in paddle sports as a white-water kayak instructor at the Nantahala Outdoor Centre in North Carolina. Paddling has provided him an opportunity to canoe, kayak, surf, and stand up paddle (SUP) throughout North and South America, Europe, and Africa.

In 2009 Ben moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a role in Medical Device Sales in London. The River Thames quickly became an ideal training ground to build his strength and develop his skill within the stand up paddling world. In 2012 Ben competed in a 220km SUP endurance race called the SUP 11 City Tour and was able to secure a top ten finish. Since then he has become a dominant competitor within the UK SUP Racing scene.

His enthusiasm and drive make him a fantastic addition to the Bray Lake and Starboard UK teams. He can often be found hosting regular training sessions at Bray Lake Watersports, or competing in different events throughout Europe.
